The client appointed Optimorph to act as Quantity Surveyor and Contract Administrator. The planning permission was due to expire imminently and therefore there was insufficient time for a traditional tender action. The client also already had a contractor that they wanted to use however was uncertain how to demonstrate 'best value'. The client engaged Optimorph to negotiate a suitable Contract Sum and Building Contract with their preferred Contractor with the objective of implementing the planning permission before it expired. Optimorph produced a detailed Cost Plan based on a Bill of Quantities to support the negotiations, discharged the various planning conditions, reacquainted the design team with the dormant scheme and re-engaged them, drew up a suitable JCT Contract and agreed the Contract Sum, managed the project post Contract including considerable variations, producing detailed cost reports and agreeing the Final Account.
